Also....

As many of you know I am not a lover of the American style of Whip making made fashionable by David Morgan who created the 450 series of whips better known as Indy a whips or Indiana Jones whips, well not in good quality Kangaroo hide anyway, if that's your thing there are plenty of whip makers prepared to do that style of work for you and their opinion differs greatly from mine, you like what you like, anyway I digress I will also in Kip bring back to the BullWhip section "The Dr Jones" a whip I used to make many years back, my interpretation of The Indiana Jones Whip...better suited to kip than fine Kangaroo hide in my opinion. It has long been suspected that some of the whips used in the first Indy films were kip hide, a material known to be used by Morgan at the time due to a Kangaroo embargo going on between Australia and the States at the time. Who knows, it I'll be an option anyway...

I have been asked about 16 plait, and all I can say to that is "NO" Kip is renowned to be 2nd to Kangaroo hide in terms of tensile strength which is what is important to whip making, but even so with the laces becoming thinner the higher up the plait count you go I am making the cut off at 12 plait. I'd rather do that than have a lot of returns, I'll leave that to the copycat's who will no doubt follow with Kip Ranges.....
